Those Beautiful Dames

Those Beautiful Dames is a 1934 Merrie Melodies cartoon directed by Friz Freleng.

Plot

A poor orphan girl looks into a store window at all the pretty toys, then enters a run-down shack so she can escape the snowstorm. As she sleeps, the toys come to life, redecorate the shack and put on a show for the girl. They have a big party with lots of cake and ice cream.

Notes

  • This is the first Merrie Melodies short to be in 2-hue Technicolor, though two shorts were released in Cinecolor prior to this short.
  • Starting with this short, all Merrie Melodies cartoons produced onward would be produced in color, though the Looney Tunes cartoons remained in black and white for another eight years.[1]
