Talk: Buddy's Day Out

It has sometimes been said that this cartoon was the result of two cartoons edited into one. Matthew Hunter, in particular, put it this way: "[Friz] Freleng reportedly edited "Buddy's Day Out" from two cartoons [Tom] Palmer had done..." Is there any information out there that can confirm or debunk this? It appears to be sensible, given the cartoon's troubled history, but sourcing is preferable.
