Speaking of the Weather is a 1937 Merrie Melodies cartoon directed by Frank Tashlin.

Plot

It's midnight at a bookstore, and suddenly the characters from the books and magazines are coming to life. A bulldog from an adventure book attempts to rob a bank, using girls as a distraction, but he is caught and sentenced to Life (Magazine). Luckily there's a magazine called Escape.

Availability

  • DVD - Looney Tunes Golden Collection: Volume 3, Disc Two (while the original titles are restored for DVD. However, the special end cue is not present as the dubbed version was the source of the soundtrack for the DVD and used the 1941-55 rendition instead of the special end cue present on the BR reissue.[1]

Censorship

Cartoon Network airings of this cartoon delete the short scene with Zulu natives.[2]

Notes

  • The cartoon was reissued as a Blue Ribbon in 1945.
