Porky's Romance is a 1937 Looney Tunes cartoon.
Plot
Porky decides to ask Petunia to marry him. Petunia says no, causing Porky to decide to hang himself. The beam holding the rope collapses as Porky jumps, and instead of killing himself, he is knocked unconscious and has a dream about what life would be like if he and Petunia got married. Petunia orders him to do everything, clobbers him with a rolling pin if he screws up, and all of his kids are troublesome. Porky wakes up to Petunia, who says she will marry him. After envisioning his awful wedded life with Petunia, Porky runs away, but not before giving Petunia's snooty dog a well-deserved kick in the butt.
Censorship
- When this cartoon was shown on the former WB network, the end where Porky runs off, then returns to kick Petunia's dog was cut.
Trivia
- This is the first appearance of Petunia.
- Petunia was intended to be a recurring character, as the WB staff were trying to find a new character to star with Porky. Petunia was unsuccessful, along with many other characters and only starred in a handful of shorts. A second star was not found until Porky's Duck Hunt, Daffy Duck's first cartoon.
