Plane Dippy is a 1936 Looney Tunes short directed by Fred Avery.

Title[]

The title is a play on "plain dippy." It may also be in reference to one of the earliest Mickey Mouse shorts, "Plane Crazy".

Plot[]

Porky Pig joins the military, and after turning down joining the army and the navy, Porky decides to join the air corps. When Porky tries on his uniform, it is too big for him and the officer has to dip Porky in water for the uniform to shrink and fit him. The officer tests Porky to see if he is fit for the military, with Beans assisting him.

Porky first attempts a dizziness test, where he has to cross a line while dazed, but he still spins while traversing it. Porky is then sent to target practice to shoot a toy plane, but he ends up destroying the office before he ends up shooting the toy plane. When Porky is assigned his job, he is given a feather duster and is tasked to clean the planes. He is also given an order where Porky is the test pilot for a robotic plane. The pilot attempts to make Porky try communicate to the robotic plane's controls via a command microphone, but Porky's severe stutters impact the robot's control to the point of nearly colliding with every object in the sky. After the plane lands, the pilot places the command microphone near a window and forces Porky to resume cleaning the plane.

Little Kitty and a boy stand in front of the command microphone for the robot plane, where the two plays with their dog Fido while blurting out commands for the dog. The command microphone interprets this as commands, and the plane takes off out of control, much to Porky's discomfort. The plane flies through a circus tent, collides with several aircraft vehicles, and into a haystack which gets turned into straw hats. Once the plane crashes into the test lab, destroying it, Porky quickly quits the air corps and decides to join the army, wanting to learn to march instead.
