[edit] Origin
Pepe Le Pew was introduced in 1945, debuting in the cartoon "The Odorable Kitty."
[edit] Design
Pepe sees himself as an attractive old-fashioned lover boy, but the ladies see him as a skunk who has problems "containing himself." His stench, in fact, is so bad, that many people, male and female, run away to avoid being sprayed. But Pepe's main attraction is a cat who has been unfortunate enough to have a white stripe painted on her back. Pepe sees this cat as his love interest, and has often tried to woo her. But the cat runs away before the two can get to become better friends.
[edit] Controversy
Pepe has never become truly famous, as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck have. Instead, he has attracted some controversy over the years. The idea of a skunk intent on wooing a lady or getting a kiss is not very popular with the adult generation of today, as it might teach kids lessons that they should not learn. However, it is strange how the murder attempts of Wile E. Coyote have never truly become as controversial as Pepe has.
[edit] Accent
Pepe has a very strong French accent, often using French words in his dialogue.
