A total of 1,000 animated theatrical shorts alone were released under the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies banners from 1930 to 1969. In addition, there were additional special shorts not under these banners released during this time.

Leon Schlesinger sold his cartoon studio to Warner Bros. officially in 1944. He also retired as producer, giving way to Eddie Selzer.

Beginning this year, all shorts from this point on are in color and stillunder copyright. Some cartoons would be produced in two-strip Cinecolor, to save money. All cartoons would be produced in three-strip Technicolor by 1950.
