Obstacles, Of Course is the ninth webisode of the Toon Marooned series of Webtoons cartoons. It first premiered 28 August 2001.

Plot[]

NOTE: Plot may contain elements of the webtoon's original internet version, including the intended order of events in the webtoon's interactive portion.

The semi-final immunity challenge for the contestants is an obstacle course where the Toons must swing over a piranha-infested river, tip toe through the Festeroon hot springs, have a couple of hors d'oeuvres at the Wheel of Exotic Cuisine, and then run to the finish line - the first to cross wins immunity. Daffy and Sylvester plot to keep Tweety from winning immunity to ensure that the two of them are the only ones in the finals, but also intend to double-cross each other. Throughout the race, Daffy and Sylvester indeed attempt to beat each other, with Daffy coating part of the swinging rope across the river with grease so that Sylvester falls in, and then Sylvester tampering with the hot spring controls so that they erupt as Daffy attempts to get across them. At the Wheel of Exotic Cuisine, a different item is determined for each Toon:

  • Daffy is spared an attempt to eat an insect grub when a giant one threatens him.
  • Sylvester gets an egg, which contains Tweety.
  • Daffy eats a piece of "Monkey Chow", but it causes him to act like a monkey.
  • Sylvester refuses to eat a bowl of tofu, as it is against his principles.
  • Tweety gets the last item - a bowl of massive green worms which he eagerly eats, to the disgust of Daffy and Sylvester as it renders the canary obese.

Both Daffy and Sylvester scramble towards the finish line but are suddenly blown up just before they can cross, leaving Tweety to bounce across it. Bugs then asks the two losers about something he never disclosed before the race began, "Did I forget to mention the minefield?". At Toon Council, Bugs states that as the winner, Tweety gets to vote off the Toon of his choice, and unsurprisingly the canary votes off Sylvester, sending the cat rocketing into the sky via firework.

Two contestants, Tweet and Daffy, are left to become the winner.

Notes[]

  • Just before the Wheel of Exotic Cuisine is spun and the shot is close-up the green worms are missing but reappear later and eaten by Tweety. This is due to the close-up shot being taken from the original internet version's interactive portion, which had the viewer choose the order in which the sequences involving the other items could play.
  • The scene with the giant grub is similar to the one with the elephant in "Rabbit Fire", complete with the same "You do and I'll give you such a pinch!" threat that the elephant gave Elmer.
  • The Wheel of Exotic Cuisine is a reference to the "Buggin' Out" challenge in the original Survivor series, where contestants have to eat gross foods in order to win the challenge.
