Bugged by a Bee is a 1969 Looney Tunes short directed by Robert McKimson.

Title[]

To bug someone can mean bothering them, however the word "bug" can also refer to an insect, such as a bee.

Plot[]

Cool Cat arrives at college, Disco Tech, and is buzzed by a bee. He swats the bee with his guitar and heads to the sports field. He thinks pole vaulting looks fun, even more so when he sees the cheerleaders watching him. On his first try, his pole goes down a gopher hole, but on his second, the bee stings his tail, sending him over the pole in record-breaking fashion.

The coach asks Cool Cat to play baseball. Cool Cat swings his bat at the bee, getting two strikes and a home run, though he doesn't run until the bee stings him again. Later, another sting make him wreck the sculling boat and storm through the hurdles event as well. Finally, in a tied football match, Cool Cat yells when he gets stung yet again, and the ball pops into his mouth. He runs around the field while the other players ask "Who's got the ball?" Cool Cat flops down in the endzone and gets stung again. He spits out the ball and scores the winning touchdown.

The college awards a special trophy to the one who made them number one in sports, the bee, much to Cool Cat's chagrin.
