¡El Chupacabra! is the seventh webisode of the Mysterious Phenomena of the Unexplained series of Webtoons cartoons.

Plot[]

Daffy begins the show by explaining that he and Porky are tracking El Chupacabra (described by Daffy as being part alien, part dinosaur and part vampire), with Porky explaining from his "Cryptozoology" book the translation of the creature's name from Spanish to English being "Goatsucker". For most of the short, whenever someone says, "El Chupacabra," ancient Puerto Rican music plays accompanied by a distant yelling.

The scene changes to the island of Puerto de Palazzio where the most recent sightings of the Chupacabra had taken place; Daffy and Porky would be vacationing there having put it on the show's expense account. After Porky explains to his boss how the Chupacabra is only interested in blood unlike most predators, Daffy sends Porky to scout a nearby mountain while Daffy starts on his tan.

At that moment, the Chupacabra appears in front of Daffy, but he mistakes it as a waiter, asking it for a large iced tea with no lemon. As Daffy gets a tip for the Chupacabra believing it expected one, the creature prepares to attack him, but quickly hides in the pair's luggage when it sees Porky returning. When Daffy asks why he came back early, Porky explains he forgot his book. After Porky takes his leave again, the Chupacabra makes another attempt to get at Daffy's blood by launching its tongue at him, but it misses as Daffy had been reaching for his sunscreen. When he sees the creature and asks it where his drink is, the Chupacabra decides to play along and give him one, in a goat head-shaped cup, which Daffy rejects as it was not what he ordered. The Chupacabra runs off when it hears Porky returning again. To Daffy's dismay, Porky had only come back with a number of trinkets.

Realising Porky's not going to get anywhere without his help, Daffy decides to set a trap for the Chupacabra using a disguised Porky as bait, and rigged so that Daffy would know when the trap has sprung (via a string around one of his toes). Porky ends up being seemingly attacked by the Chupacabra and his attempts to inform Daffy go unnoticed until Daffy's walkie-talkie goes silent. When Daffy tries to communicate with Porky, he ends up getting pulled off-screen.

Later at Club Chupacabra, many chupacabras are relaxing by the beach. Daffy and Porky have been turned into waiters for them in exchange for not having their blood sucked.

Notes[]

  • Apart from having a tail, a squat build and a thumb on each hand, El Chupacabra's design almost perfectly matches the "low-budget horror film" appearance consistently described in eyewitness accounts. The creature's attempt at weaponising its tongue in particular is likely inspired by the eyewitness account of police detective Eliezer Rivera, in which he claimed he saw the Chupacabra sticking out a long spike from its mouth, which he interpreted as a defense mechanism.
