Buddy's Show Boat is a 1933 Looney Tunes cartoon.

Buddy is a captain who puts on a show that delights audiences, but gets them in trouble, eventually leading to a walrus saving the day.

When this short aired on Looney Tunes on Nickelodeon, two blackface minstrel gags were edited[1]:

  • A scene of blackface minstrels was replaced with a repeat of an earlier hound dog gag, but a later minstrel scene was unaltered.
  • A scene featuring a Zulu native imitating Maurice Chevalier was edited to remove Buddy introducing him as "Chief Saucer Lip" (and the caption below describing him as such was edited as well).
